at first I had the notion they were clowns

with just the right amount of wear and scuffs

and giant phallus

and then "K" and "Q" for the positions of King and Queen

The bright white glazing, speckled brown from reaction with the body of the clay, is I think its perfect match, giving it a modernist crispness in certain contexts and and a great earthiness in others. And, its two openings make for fun with flowers, though it is pretty great just on its own. 8 7 8" tall x
