Large Stencil Painted Beetle on Masonite, From VFW Hall, Orrington, MA folk art seaplane I believe this wall box

I believe this wall box was made to hold a pocket watch

so could possibly be "after" his design

I love them as a pair and would use them as vases or perhaps as storage vessels for chopsticks or wooden spoons or whatnot

It measures 21" across by 17" tall

Large Stencil Painted Beetle on Masonite, From VFW Hall, Orrington, MA folk art seaplane I believe this wall boxI have no idea the story behind how this stencil spray painted beetle came to live in the VFW Hall in Orrington, Maine, but so it seems to have, as handwritten on the reverse, and at some point was stickered by the Orrington Historical Society. Whatever the case, a pretty great one I think, with those six stenciled legs making it look like a skeleton dancing. Just the right softness spatter to the spray painted edges, too. 13 1 8" w x 12 1 2" t, spray
