The design space for this mechanic was much more limiting than cycling, because there were a lot fewer spell effects/creatures that naturally connected with the granting of +1/+1 counters
The number of enter-the-battlefield effects alone makes it sound like a headache to resolve, but it only copies creature tokens, so it's not as bad
For example, if you replace a "trash the bottom digivolution card of 1 of your opponent's Digimon" effect, you trash the bottom digivolution card of this card
While not creating any new archetypes, the deck allowed for some pretty incredible combos
